Yellow archangel, Lamiastrum galeobdolon

Yellow archangel is a common choice for hanging baskets and as ground cover, due to its attractive variegated foliage and shade tolerance. However, it easily establishes wild populations in forested areas, often due to improper disposal of garden cuttings.

Yellow archangel forms dense, sprawling mats that can be very difficult to control in parks and forests. It is particularly problematic in urban forests of Settle, but also occurs in other western WA counties.
