General Description

Tough and sturdy perennial herb

Flower Description

Umbrella-shaped clusters of many small lavender to white flowers. Each flower is small and vaguely bell-shaped.

Leaf description

Large, rounded, spoon-shaped leaves, which feel leathery, and can be over 6 inches long and 3 inches wide.

Stem description

Leaves grow from a basal rosette and do not have true stems. Flowers grow on the ends of branching, umbrella-shaped stalks. These flowering stems are round and green to purple-red.

Where does it grow?

Salt marshes, estuaries, coastal areas, and other saline wetland areas.

How Does it Reproduce?

Seed and underground rhizomes.
