General Description

A densely tufted perennial sedge

Flower Description

Spikes of bunches of tear-drop shaped green bracts.

Leaf description

Long, narrow, grass-like blades. Tightly rolled lengthwise in sheaths

Stem description

No true stems, only the round, green, flowering stalks are upright. 

May Be Confused With

Looks similar to our native Carex tumulicola, foothill sedge. This factsheet has information on telling them apart

Where does it grow?

Forest understory, can survive in dry areas
